Electric Avenue

Oh electricity, how I love thee.
Crazy wind storm today.
At work it sounded like an entire elementary school student body was having recess on the roof with all the banging and whipping around of roof tiles.
At home the power went out around 11:30 am and was still out when I got home around 5:30.Oh and we lost a bunch of shingles off the roof.
The power outages were sporadic all over the region.
So, no power, and not knowing how long this would last, we decided that instead of opening the fridge and letting the last of the cold air out, we would go out and find a restaurant that still had power. We drove around for a bit looking at all the damage. Trees down everywhere! We even saw a tree that fell down right onto a car. And not just any car, but a nice shiny Porche convertible.
Anyway, driving around after dinner we were trying to figure out a pattern for the areas that were regaining power. One street would be totally dark and the next has all the lights up and running. When we got to our neighborhood we could see plainly that the power was still out so we decided to drive through and see how far the area of outage still was. A few blocks after our neighborhood the lights were back on so we decided finally to turn around and go home. And inbetween the time when we drove through our neighborhood and the five minutes we kept going, the power came back on.
Perfect timing!
