neighbours and kitty teeth

Well the leak is officially fixed. We did a temporary fix with some rubber and clamps and that was good until we could get a real plumber in there. In the meantime we have fans trying to dry things out and we cut out a little more of the drywall from the living room ceiling to let the air in there.
Last night we were watching for our plumber neighbor to come home (as we hadnt gotten a hold of him the night before) when there was a knock on our door. It was another neighbor who said hed heard that we had a leak and was wondering if he could take a look at it. Funny, because Evan had gone over to his place the other night but he wasnt there so we ended up talking to this other neighbor who told us that the guy across the street from him was a plumber.
Anyway, he came in, took a look and asked if he could go home and get his stuff and come fix it. !!! Nice!
So anyway, he went home got his tools, came over, turned off the water and within five minutes the water was back on and everything was fixed! Yay! So well wait a bit and do a little drywall patching and things will be as good as new!
Of course he wouldnt take any money so Evan offered to take him and his little family for dinner at the golf club.

Its so nice to have one less thing to worry about!

Now back to the other event of the weekend which has been on hold since the leak took over. Treakle my 10 year old kitty has bad teeth. We know this. For a long time Ive know that something needs to be done about it but we havent really had the extra cash for a several hundred dollar kitty dental bill. Friday after work Evan was sitting there scratching Treakles jaw, which she always likes, and her tooth fell out in his hand. Thats right, he was scratching her jaw and a tooth came tumbling out into his hand. First of all, Eeew! Second of all, poor kitty! I got on the phone right away and started calling vets but at 6:30 on a Friday most of them were closing up. I did call the emergency animal hospital and they basically told us to just keep an eye on her. Watch her behavior, eating, sleeping, playing etc and see if she seems normal. I took a look in her mouth (which I think bothers her more than losing a tooth did) and there was a tiny bit of blood on her gum but the rest of it looked healthy and pink. So we kept an eye on it, I checked her mouth again in the morning and there was no blood and just healthy looking gums. The thing is, there is a bad tooth on the other side that looks just like the one that came out. But she has been eating as much, if not more than normal, and playing and acting completely normal. Im keeping an eye on the gum to watch for signs of infection, but really I think that her body expelled the whole portion of tooth/gum that was bad and has left healthy tissue. But now we are left wondering if we should go get the other tooth taken out or just wait and see what nature does.
